Quan Trang (BA, BFA) is the Program Director and lead teaching artist for Barnsdall Arts/FOJAC. Quan has been working at Barnsdall Arts as an art educator and program developer for 15 years. She writes site specific innovative curricula that include art history, cultural arts, and S.T.E.M. She teaches Pre-K to AP Studio Art as well as children, families and seniors in a wide array of programs.

Zara Bennett (PhD, RYT) began her career teaching French language and African literature at the college level. She brings this passion for communication and connection to youth yoga. Bennett has worked extensively with public schools in Los Angeles to introduce yoga and mindfulness programming during the school day. She has also been a strong advocate for mental health awareness and schoolyard greening.

Abby Wills (MA) has dedicated over 20 years to integrating mindful practices for social emotional health into diverse school settings. She brings her expertise in developmental education as well as extensive studies in yoga and mindfulness to her work as a teacher and writer. Abby is Co-Founder and Program Director of Shanti Generation. Abby leads the mindful practice program of Project Silver Lining for Barnsdall Arts. She serves as Movement, Mindfulness + Social Emotional Development Specialist for Full Circle Consulting Systems, Inc.

LEAD AND ENVISION

Joe Pelayo has taught Ancient Art for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the past 14 years. Joe is also a traditional Aztec Dancer and teacher to all age groups. He has run an Art Gallery in East Hollywood which conducted Yoga, Tai chi, Belly dance classes, a Healing Arts center, and a Tattoo studio where Joe was the Tattoo Artist. Joe is currently teaching art and art history for the Barnsdall Arts program while working on a Business Degree.

Anjali Deva is an Ayurvedic practitioner, writer, and teacher in Los Angeles, CA. Her private practice Rooted Rasa specializes in understanding anxiety, depression, PTSD, digestive disorders and women’s health. Her strong passion for digestion and mental health provides others with a holistic approach to find their inner harmony and resilience for healing. Anjali believes strongly in the importance of connection and the need to heal in community.

Laurie Cousins is a trauma-informed nonviolent parent educator and mindfulness teacher with extensive training through the mindful centers of UCLA and UCSD. She is a lead teacher for Susan Kaiser Greenland’s Inner Kids program and teaches in schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Laurie is also trained in somatic-based therapies that help people find recovery from addictive behaviors and trauma. She has a private practice in Studio City where she specializes in helping youth, parents, and families reduce stress, build resiliency, and cultivate compassionate connection.

Celia Fraire (MA) is a licensed elementary teacher and certified kundalini yoga teacher with more than 12 years experience working with kids. After obtaining her Master’s in Elementary Education, she began to develop her yoga teaching practice to offer these tools to students. In 2015, Celia received her first yoga certification and began teaching kids yoga classes in Santa Monica, CA. Celia currently teaches in-school yoga and mindfulness classes to a number of public schools in Los Angeles.

Patille Violeta is a Youth Educator and the founder of Emerging Girl, a movement that empowers female identifying youth. Patille specializes in Reiki/Energy Healing, Body Positivity, Yoga, Meditation, Dance and Movement. Her mission is to equip youth with self-care tools. She has been living her mission since 2010.

Alex Eaves is a reuse expert and has been leading a passionate reuse lifestyle since 2008. He is the owner of the reuse apparel brand, STAY VOCAL. He is also the director of the award winning documentary, REUSE! Because You Can't Recycle The Planet. Eaves is currently working on his second documentary project, where he collaborated with a tiny house expert to convert a U-Haul truck into a 98-square foot tiny house and mobile reuse education center that he now lives in.

Osher Levi started playing the Didjeridoo in 1996. She played and performed with some local bands, both on stage and in recording studios. Her interest in the healing power of sound and music led her to Harbin Hot Springs in 2001, where she started a monthly music mediation at Harbin Hot Springs. Also at Harbin she studied Energy and Cranial Sacral work, and started offering Sound Healing combined with Energy/Cranial Sacral work.
